Clubcard, Nectar and other loyalty prices for beer

Which supermarket loyalty schemes change the price of beer at the till, and which do not.

Two prices for the same pack

Tesco and Sainsbury's show two prices on many beers and ciders: the shelf price anyone pays, and a lower price for members of their loyalty scheme, Clubcard at Tesco and Nectar at Sainsbury's. The lower price only applies if you scan the card or are signed in online.

On UK Beer Deals a Clubcard or Nectar price is shown beside the shelf price wherever the supermarket shows one. Tick the cards you hold and the list and its sorting use those prices; leave them unticked and everything is compared at the shelf price.

Schemes that are not a lower price

Asda Rewards gives you credit to spend on a later shop rather than a lower price at the till, so we never show it as a price. Every Asda price here is the shelf price, with any advertised offer beside it.

We do not capture a separate Morrisons More Card price or a Waitrose member price, so prices for both are shelf prices. Aldi has no loyalty card prices; its prices are the in-store prices it publishes, because Aldi does not sell beer online.

Comparing fairly

A loyalty price can make one supermarket look cheapest when its shelf price is not. That is why every comparison here leads with the shelf price and names the card whenever a lower price needs one.

Price per litre is shown for every listing, so a card price on a small pack can be weighed against the shelf price of a larger one.
